Review your details
Our migration experts will evaluate your situation. This is not an automated service, we’ll review your request by hand and get back to you personally.
Let's get started
We’ll provide a full migration plan and estimated time frame. Once you give us the OK, we’ll start working while you wait. We’ll keep you updated with regular updates along the way.
How long do migrations take?
Calculating the exact time required to transfer files and data can be quite challenging due to the numerous variables involved. These factors include the volume of data being migrated, the complexity of the data structures, the network speed at the source location, and the physical distance between the original site and mxNAP. Consequently, it is not possible to provide a fully accurate estimate of the time needed for completion. Various unforeseen elements, such as network slowdowns, extended configuration times, and other necessary adjustments, may arise during the process. Despite these challenges, we are committed to keeping you informed throughout the process and ensuring that the transfer is completed as quickly as possible.
How much will a migration cost?
The initial migration service is included in the management fee associated with your server purchase or may be provided through special authorization from the sales department. However, if your server is not under a management plan with mxNAP, we will provide you with a custom quote for the initial migration process.
Who can I talk to about a migration?
Feel free to reach out to any member of our Systems Administrator team to discuss your upcoming or ongoing migration in detail. We are here to assist you and can be contacted through our phone system or live chat. Whether you need guidance or have specific questions, our knowledgeable staff at mxNAP is ready to help.
Will my site have down time during the migration?
Typically, you will not experience any downtime when switching your DNS to our servers at mxNAP. This seamless transition largely depends on maintaining your service with your current provider during the network propagation phase.
To clarify, propagation refers to the time it takes for your updated DNS zone information to spread across the internet after you’ve made the initial change. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) update their DNS caches at varying intervals; some do so frequently, while others may take longer. During this period, some users may still access your site through the old provider, while others will be directed to our servers at mxNAP. The key point is that as long as your service remains active on both platforms, your site will stay online throughout the propagation process.
In most cases, DNS propagation should be fully completed within 24 to 48 hours after the change is made.
What type of testing does mxNAP do?
Initially, we conduct a thorough speed test to confirm that file transfers will be completed within an acceptable time frame. When migrating actual websites to our services at mxNAP, we go a step further by testing a select group of websites after the migration is complete. These websites are accessed through a dedicated test link on the server, allowing us to evaluate their performance. We cross-reference this with error log files to identify and address any potential issues, ensuring a smooth and error-free transition.
